Initial Setup Wizard from BitDefender 10

 

Issue:

This article describes the Initial Setup Wizard that appears when installing BitDefender 10.

Solution:

During the installation procedure a wizard will appear. The wizard helps you register your BitDefender 10, create a BitDefender account and set BitDefender to perform important security tasks. We recommended you to take a few moments in order to complete the wizard so that you save time and make sure your system is safe even before BitDefender is installed.
BitDefender 10 Initial Setup Wizard
  1. The welcome screen. Click Next to continue.
  2. Register BitDefender 10. In order to perform this task, choose Register the product and type the license key obtained at the purchase moment in the Enter new key field.
    To continue evaluating the product select Continue evaluating the product. Click Next.
  3. Create a BitDefender Account. In order to benefit from free BitDefender technical support and other free services you need to create an account on the BitDefender website.
    I do not have a BitDefender account: type a valid e-mail address in the E-mail field. Think of a password and type it in the Password field. Confirm the password in the Re-type password field. Use the e-mail address and the password to log in to your account.

    The password must be at least four characters long.

    To successfully create an account you must first activate it. Check your e-mail address and follow the instructions in the e-mail sent to you by the BitDefender registration service.

    Please activate your account before moving on to the next step.

    If you do not want to create a BitDefender account, just select Skip this step. You will also skip the next step of the wizard. Click Next to continue.

    I already have a BitDefender account: if you already have an active account, provide the e-mail address and the password of your account. If you provide an incorrect password, you will be prompted to re-type it when you click Next. Click Ok to enter the password again or Cancel to exit the wizard.
    If you have forgotten your password, click Forgot your password? and follow the
    instructions. Click Next to continue.
  4. Enter Account Details. Fill in your first and last name and select the country you are from.
    If you already have an account, the wizard will display the information you provided previously, if any. Here you can modify this information if you want to.
    The data you provide here will remain confidential. You will enter the details here only if you did not skip the previous step. Click Next.
  5. Learn about Real Time Virus Reporting and Outbreak Detection. Please read carefully the complete description of the above mentioned BitDefender services. Click Next.
  6. Select security tasks. Set BitDefender to perform important tasks for the security of your system. The following options are available:
    • Update the BitDefender engines (may require reboot) - the scanning engines and virus definitions will be updated during the next step;
    • Run a quick system scan (may require reboot) - BitDefender will scan the Program Files and Windows folders in order to make sure that these locations are safe;
    • Run a full system scan everyday at 2 AM - BitDefender will create a scheduled task to scan the entire computer everyday at 2 AM.
  7. Tasks overview. Wait for the task(s) to complete. You can see the status of the task(s) selected in the previous step. Click Next.
  8. Wizard summary. This is the final step of the configuration wizard. You can make any changes you want by returning to the previous steps (click Back). Select Open my BitDefender Account to enter your BitDefender account. Internet connection is required.
    If you do not want to make any changes, click Finish to exit the wizard.
