I/O Timeout

 

Issue:

The article provides information about BitDefender update issues that can occur on some machines, after a product update delivered on December 17th.

Solution:

After a recent product update, BitDefender users may face issues when updating the BitDefender program, specifically the "I/O timeout" error. This error appeared due to the fact that BitDefender's firewall module denied access for the Update module to connect to the update servers.

In order to overcome the issue, please follow the steps presented below:

A) Right click on the BitDefender icon down in your system tray, and select "Open Advanced Settings".

B. In the BitDefender console, select the Firewall module, go to the "Traffic" tab, and uncheck the "Hide system processes" option.

C. Double-click on the rule created for "livesrv.exe", and change the "Select action" option to "Allow".


D. Select "Ok", and close the BitDefender console.
