Technical Support Manager for BitDefender UK

Newcastle under Lyme, Tuesday 24 June: BitDefender, the antivirus and Internet Security vendor, has recruited John Hughes (32) as technical support manager. This is a new appointment, providing additional UK based support to business and home office users of BitDefender products.
An immediate task will be to set up a UK training programme to ensure that all resellers and distribution partners are fully conversant with the features and potential business opportunities offered by BitDefender.
“We can help the resellers to maximise business opportunities by having a better understanding of their customers’ issues and needs,” says John, adding. “Sometimes the resellers are too product-orientated as opposed to being solutions-orientated.”
John’s background and over ten years experience covers various business and academic environments, including manufacturing, insurance and risk management, local authorities, as well as general consultancy with a security software reseller.
Prior to joining BitDefender, John Hughes was contracted to Fife Council as an IT security consultant After qualifying in 1998, John’s career in information technology started with John Moores University, Liverpool, where he was responsible for IT training and the management of one of the university’s professional facilities.
Following appointments include two years as an IT support analyst with a food manufacturer based in Liverpool. He then moved into consultancy working with an anti-virus security reseller. After four years he moved to another in-house appointment, carrying out IT risk assessments with Royal London Insurance.
