Bitdefender, the creator of innovative antivirus software solutions, has announced it will stop offering the standalone version of online storage solution Safebox this year as the company tightens its focus on security.

Bitdefender is intensifying its focus on key areas concerning security such as the core antimalware technologies at the root of the company's success, the expanding business solutions, and the BOX, the groundbreaking device that protects all PCs, Macs, wearables, iPhones, iPads, Android and Jolla devices, Wiis, Xboxes, smart TVs, smart fridges and Wi-Fi-enabled devices in a home.

As such, the company halted sales of Safebox on May 4 and will end technological support in June. The product’s lifecycle ends on Dec. 31, 2015.

"We are determined to remain #1 in the online security industry in terms of quality and that requires the full attention of our staff," said Bitdefender Chief Security Strategist Catalin Cosoi. "It’s always sad to see a product go, especially for the team that worked hard to perfect it, but we’re also very excited about the future of the company in the increasingly connected world."
