Top certification for low impact of anti-virus software on system performance
BitDefender announced that BitDefender Anti-Virus software received the top certification level from AV-Comparatives for its low impact on system performance.
BitDefender’s core Anti Virus software has secured the top level certification for its low impact on system resources. Under the test programme conducted by AV-Comparatives, 16 antivirus products were evaluated to determine which software had the least impact on its host system performance.
Tests were divided into two parts focusing on functionality and performance. Initially the test simulated various file operations that a computer user would normally execute such as, copying files from one place to another, archiving and retrieving files; encoding and trans-coding audio and video files. In the second part of the test, the system boot up and shutdown times of the PC were analyzed to see what impact the anti-virus software had on the process.
Results were classified under a three-level ranking system: Standard, Advanced, and Advanced+. Nine products, including BitDefender achieved the highest level certification.
Commenting on the tests, Bogdan Dumitru, BitDefender’s chief technology officer said
