Highlands & Islands Fire and Rescue Service chooses BitDefender
The emergency service protecting Britain’s most remote communities is the latest organisation to endorse BitDefender after successful deployment of the Corporate IT network security system.
The Highlands & Islands Fire and Rescue Service (HIFRS) operates a network of over 100 stations across 12,000 square miles staffed by retained fire-fighters who respond to emergency pager alerts sent from their control room in Inverness. The twelve server setup also performs other functions from personnel and availability rosters to an intranet archive of up-to-the-minute technical and training information.
BitDefender was recommended to protect HIFRS’s system against the latest viruses such as Conficker and other malware by consultants Security IP, who offered a package including a monthly review and reporting service, full support and after sales care.
John Cannon, HIFRS Communications Manager said of the deployment: “Since installation in March 2008, settling in and taking up the Security IP housekeeping service we have been more than satisfied. It’s nice to go to bed at night knowing that everything is taken care of.”
