How to fix Realtime Protection functionality issues

In some cases it is possible to see that the Real Time Protection does not work properly. Please open Bitdefender, click on the Options button in the upper right corner, select Expert View and go to the Antivirus  page. If this page appears as grayed out and the Bitdefender Real Time Protection is Unavailable message is displayed, use the troubleshooting guidelines provided below:

A. Check your computer for other security solutions

It is possible that the Bitdefender Real Time Protection is not working properly due to a conflict with other security solutions installed on the same PC. If you have any other security solutions please remove them and then check if Bitdefender is working properly.

B. Check if Bitdefender Virus Shield service is running

In order to check that please perform the steps below:

- Go to Start, click Run and type "services.msc" and hit Enter (without the quotation marks);
- Double-click the Bitdefender Virus Shield service in the list and check it's status. If it is stopped, click Start.

NOTE: for Windows Vista or Windows 7 you can type directly services.msc in the search box from Start;

- Open Bitdefender in Expert View and check if the Real Time Protection module is working properly.

C. Use our restore patches

- Download the two patches available here:

- First patch
- Second patch

And save them on your desktop;

- Run the first one (bdfsfltr_1.exe), wait until it completes and restart the computer when prompted;

-After restart, run the second patch (bdfsfltr_2.exe), wait until it completes and open the Bitdefender dashboard to check if the issue is solved.

  NOTE: The patch might not function correctly on systems with UAC enabled. Make sure you disable UAC if you experience any issues. Click here for steps on how to disable the User Account Control.

- Reboot the computer after the procedure is finished;

- Check if the Bitdefender Real Time Protection Module is working properly.
